Community Medical Support Organization we started our operations as a Community Based Organization (CBO) in February, 2017 in Jinja District. CMSO is registered with the NGO Board under Certificate No.. 666 to operate nationally. Mission: To empower communities to become practically responsible to their health through a professional participatory approach, access to medical care and information dissemination around the region. This year we have a project of giving mama kits to five hospitals in Busoga region in the month of December. A Mama Kit is an all-in-one kit that contains everything needed to help provide a clean and safe delivery. In order to give birth in most hospitals or clinics in Uganda, you must purchase all of the necessary supplies and bring them with you. If a mother does not have the supplies she will often be turned away. Many of the women cannot afford the supplies. Each mama kit contains plastic sheeting, razor blades, cotton wool, gauze pad, soap, surgical gloves, exam gloves, cord ties, and a child health . All of the supplies are sealed so that they remain sterile. This project is designed to meet the needs and bridge the gap in service provision in the health sector most especially reproductive health and to improve and extend services to the different marginalized groups in rural areas including the elderly who are often disadvantaged.
