Introduction:
As a younger man I’ve always wondered: are there alternatives to progress that does not involve more urbanization and consolidation of top-down power? I don’t mean going hardcore hippie or full-on life-in-the-woods. I meant having a fairly normal life around normal people doing normal jobs, but without all the crowded living, media overload, rising land and house prices, ever more complicated financial games that you exhaust yourself in just to stay even, and arbitrary government mandates that come and go like the wind. People told me that’s irresponsible. But I wonder: must I really sell myself short for 30 years on a mortgage just to be considered a ‘responsible member of society’? I didn’t think so. In fact I observe that it’s precisely when someone is burdened with debt, mortgages and obligations in big, artificially constructed social webs that they become powerless to stand up for what they might think is right. And so I looked, and I found the joys of being a modern day gypsy man. I live in caravans, I go wherever the work takes me, and I save for my retirement by keeping gold under the ol sock drawer. It was scary at first, me starting out as just a regular city bred college kid, but I think I made the right choice. I learnt so many useful skills and met some of the most wonderful human beings along the way; and all the money I make are positive savings, not debt balancing. And of course every new job begins as a brand new adventure as I continue to tour this vast land. So now I wonder, are there more of us out there? Dear, Penpal friends, my name is Joseph. I'm currently incarcerated in state prison at the moment. I've been in prison for almost 9 years now. I'm a 34 year old black male, 5'9 tall, and 185 lbs. Honestly I'm just looking for a good friend to talk with. Being in prison has utterly stripped me of a social life. I've been in prison for so long, that I've lost all contact with family and friends. Lonely isn't a good enough word to describe how I feel in here. Well, a little about me: Recently I graduated and received my GED certificate, through the prisons education system. I'm now currently taking three college classes (not bragging but, I must say I am sort of proud of myself lol). I like to exercise at least 3 days a week. I like reading books(novels) but I must admit I haven't been reading like I normally would as of lately. I'd like to say that I'm a pretty good cook also, I just hate the clean up afterwards. When I have time, I do attend the prisons law library. Hopefully to find something that could be helpful to my case and appeal. Well I guess I'll wrap it up for now. Hopefully this catches the eye of a good hearted person who's not judgemental nor biased. But someone who's actually willing to listen and understand that I'm still a human being also. I lost my one true love around a year ago in an accident, and now that I am finally slowly getting back on my feet I would be happy to find someone to talk to again.
